DAVID A. ALEXANDER
Growing up in Scotland with a Scottish Terrier and friends' Cairns, David fell in love with Bull Terriers in the early '70's, when he was the frequent house/dog sitter for friends' Kearby male. He obtained his first Bull Terrier from Breeder-Judge Bob Thomas. Subsequently he purchased a sound CH Banbury Barnstormer ROM daughter, who finished her Championship quickly and became the Brigadoon foundation bitch. The limited Brigadoon breeding program has produced a series of American and Canadian Champions, including multiple National Specialty winners, ROM champions and Group-placing dogs.
David is a longtime member of the Bull Terrier Club of America, Gavilan KC, NCTA, Golden State Bull Terrier Club and Monterey Bay Bull Terrier Club. David served for a number of years as the Genetics Chair for the BTCA Welfare Foundation, President of MBBTC, and BTCA Treasurer.
David attended the AKC Judges Institute, Senior Conformation Judges Institute and the ADSJ Adv Institute. He has also attended various other Dog Judges Assn., Los Angeles Dog Judges Assn., and San Francisco Bay Area Dog Judges Assn. meetings and training sessions. In addition to judging Silverwood, Montgomery, Devon, and other shows throughout the US, David has judged in Australia, Canada, China, Colombia, England, France, Germany, Netherlands, New Zealand, Russia, Scotland, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Zambia. In October 2011 he judged the prestigious Silverwood competition for a second time and in 2013 judged at Westminster Kennel Club for the first time.
David currently judges the Terrier Group, the Non-Sporting Group, AKC Miscellaneous breeds, and Best In Show.
