Cache Clearing Instructions
Choose your platform, browser and version from the ones mentioned below to see the specific instructions for clearing your cache.

PC INTERNET EXPLORER 5.x and 6.x

MAC INTERNET EXPLORER 5.x

PC NETSCAPE 4.x and 6.x and 7.x

PC INTERNET EXPLORER 5.x and 6.x

Follow these instructions:

Open Internet Explorer
Do NOT go to any sites
Go to TOOLS menu
Choose INTERNET OPTIONS
Go To GENERAL tab
On the section marked TEMPORARY INTERNET FILES, click SETTINGS.
Where it says CHECK FOR NEWER VERSIONS OF STORED PAGES, choose EVERY VISIT TO THE PAGE
Click OK
Press button marked DELETE FILES - a window pops up - check the box for "Delete all offline content" - click OK
Close Internet Explorer and restart. Things should work better now.

MAC INTERNET EXPLORER 5.x

Follow these instructions:

Close all browser windows.
From the "Edit" pulldown menu, select "Preferences"
If it's not already expanded, select the "Web Browser" section by clicking on the right-arrow.
Select the "Advanced" button.
Confirm you have "Always" selected.
Click on "Empty Now"
Click "OK"
Close Internet Explorer and restart your MAC. Things should work better now.

PC NETSCAPE 4.x and 6.x and 7.x

Follow these instructions:

Open Netscape
Do not go to any sites
Go to EDIT at the top
Choose PREFERENCES (last on list)
Click the + sign next to ADVANCED (triangle for Netscape 7.x)
Click over CACHE
In the spot where it says "Document in cache is compared to document on network", Click dot next to EVERY TIME
Press Button that says "CLEAR MEMORY CACHE" - A window pops up, click OK
Press button that says "CLEAR DISK CACHE" - A window pops up, click OK
Exit Netscape and restart. Things should work better now.

PC NETSCAPE 8.x

Follow these instructions:

Open the Tools menu and click Options.
Under the Privacy panel, click Cache.
To clear the cache immediately, click Clear Cache.

MAC NETSCAPE 4.7x and 6.x

Follow these instructions:

Close all browser windows.
From the "Edit" pull-down menu, select "Preferences"
Expand the "Advanced" options by clicking on the arrow pointing to"Advanced"
Select "Cache"
Confirm you have "Every time" selected.
Click on "Clear Disk Cache" (click "OK" when you're asked if you're sure).
Click "OK"
Close Netscape and restart your MAC. Things should work better now.

PC AOL 9.0

Follow these instructions:

Click the 'Settings' icon on the AOL toolbar and a window will pop-up
Under the 'Essentials' tab click on 'Internet (Web) Options'
Under the 'General' tab there is a section labeled 'Temporary Internet Files'
Click 'Settings' within this section.
Next make sure under 'Check for newer versions of stored pages:' that the first option: "Every visit to the page" is selected.
Click OK
Click the 'Delete Files...' button
Check the box for 'Delete all offline content' and click the 'OK' button
At this point your AOL cache has been cleared. Click the 'OK' button to close the AOL Internet properties box.

PC AOL 8.0

Follow these instructions:

Start AOL.
Click Settings, Preferences, and go to Internet Properties (WWW).
In the Temporary Internet Files area, press the Delete Files button and press OK.
On the section marked TEMPORARY INTERNET FILES click SETTINGS.
Where it says CHECK FOR NEWER VERSIONS OF STORED PAGES choose EVERY VISIT TO THE PAGE

PC AOL 7.0

Follow these instructions:

Start AOL.
Choose the "Settings" drop down menu.
Select "Preferences", then "Internet Properties (www)", then "Internet Options", then "General".
Under "History," choose "Clear History" or you can set your "Days to Keep Pages in History" to zero (0).
Right above that, under "Temporary Internet Files," depress the button "Delete Files."
Under "Settings", choose to see the latest version of a web site every time.

MAC AOL 5.0

Please note that unfortunately, AOL's web browser requires you to quit AOL and then restart AOL and restart your MAC for the cache to completely empty after following the instructions below. You may complete the following instructions online or offline:

From the "My AOL" pulldown menu, select "Preferences" on the toolbar.
Locate the "WWW" icon and click on it.
Locate the square labeled "Disk Cache"
Click on the "Empty Cache Now" button.
Click "OK"
Close the "PREFERENCES" window.
"QUIT" AOL.
Restart AOL (Best practice is to completely restart your MAC)

IMPORTANT MAC AOL TIP!!
Next to the "EMPTY CACHE" button, you can select the MAXIMUM CACHE SIZE, the lower the number, the fewer AOL temporary files will be stored onto your hard drive. In simple terms, this means that AOL will take up less space on your hard drive.

MAC AOL 4.0

From the AOL menu bar, which is just below the very top Apple menu bar, select "My AOL"
From the "My AOL" menu, choose "PREFERENCES"
From the left side of the "PREFERENCES" window, select the "WWW" icon (You may have to scroll to get to the "WWW" icon.)
Click the "EMPTY CACHE NOW" button
Click "OK"
Close the "PREFERENCES" window
"QUIT" AOL.
Restart AOL (Best practice is to completely restart your MAC)

MAC AOL 3.0

From the top menu bar, select "MEMBERS"
From the "MEMBERS" menu, choose "PREFERENCES"
From the left side of the "PREFERENCES" window, select the "WEB" icon (You will have to scroll down to get to the "WEB" icon.)
Click the "EMPTY CACHE" button
Click "OK"
Close the "PREFERENCES" window.
"QUIT" AOL.
Restart AOL (Best practice is to completely restart your MAC)
